Also this solution can be usefull for Your to resrore Your crashed system after unsuccessfull driver or any kext installation or modification.
I`m glad to say You that after
couple days of making sexwith my Everex notebook I found a solution that helps me install KALYWAY DVD 10.5.1 Leo.
For now I can post for You a small how-to step by step (installation and repair)
My installation how-to is for
guidpartition style, but I know that it can helps in other situation too.
And of couse this how-to is only for that hardware configuration that can boot from KALYWAY(Or any other Your have) installation DVD into Installer.
- Boot with install DVD (Any! Not only KALYWAY)
- Run Terminal
- Type in it diskutil list
- Analysis for command out is very simple
Example:

Here We can see full list of supported HDD`s by installation config at our system(In my screenshot there are 3 disks - /dev/disk0 and /dev/disk1 and /dev/disk2 ). And for Now We can partition it with a fdisk.
- After selecting Your disk You have to partition it with fdisk
- in Terminal type fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX ( r - this is special device type for write accessing to disk with a number X (You have to select it from diskutil list out)
- please type in fdisk console auto boothfs (fdisk will partition your diskX with a 8Mb hidden boot partition and hfs filesystem)
- type quit for exiting and writing changes
After it You have to reboot Your machine and boot it from KALYWAY DVD again
- After booting into DVD Install - Your can continue installing Leo as You want and as described in the DVD Manual
- Main Reboot for checking if Your hardware supported with KALYWAY(or any) DVD - if Yes - please close this WebPage
System Recovery
- But if Your system can`t boot Your can restore it and make it bootable - Your have to reboot Your machine and boot it again from installation DVD
- After booting - go to Terminal and do this steps
- cd /Volumes/type_here_Your_boot_volume_name/System/Library
- mv Extensions Extensions.orig
- cp -Rv /System/Library/Extensions ./
- chown -Rv root:wheel Extensions
- cp /usr/standalone/i386/* /Volumes/type_here_Your_boot_volume_name/usr/standalone/i386/ (only if Your system lost bootloader)
- chown -Rv root:wheel /Volumes/type_here_Your_boot_volume_name/usr/standalone/i386/* (only if Your system lost bootloader)
- rm -rf Extensions.mkext && reboot
After rebooting Your system can be booted with tohkernel as it boots when booting into DVD-install. So Your can continue installing drivers and configuring system.
But remember - after such repair system is very limited in hardware support so You have to install all drivers Your need.
If Your crash Your system at any step when Your install and configure - This method ( steps 8-9 ) can always back Your to a working limited bootable config for next try.

Hi There! COuld you tell
Hi There!
COuld you tell me how to get hold of the Kalyway Leopard DVD software. Is there a place from where I can download it?
try torrents
try torrents
B0 error
Got the 10.5.1 disks Kalyway, read your tutorial. It wont install. It gives me some B0 error on start up. I think I need a drink or something. I am trying to do a dual boot XP and Leopard. So far just XP. Maybe I should get a drink or something. LOL Any suggestions?
When You got B0 error?
B0 error when booting from DVD or already from hdd after installation?
If it is when booting from DVD - it is a bad DVD disk or possibly bad BIOS settings
But if it is after installation try to make as described in steps 8-9
10.5.5
As I know there are much better install disks than 10.5.1 - try to search more advanced and new KALYWAY version with 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 Leo`s
B0 error
I get a B0 error after install. Because I am a total noob or someone who does crack If I use the Kalyway 10.5 on my everex do I still have to format the drive as you described? Just for clarification why do you have to format the partition as indicated above.
steps 8-9
You need to install bootloader as described in steps 8-9
Try to boot again into instalation DVD and start terminal from the installer menu at the top.
After that - steps 8-9
Formatting is need only when Your hdd was occupied by vista or something else non-XFS+ based OS
Another way is to buy USB2SATA adapter and install Leopard onto internal hdd plugged as external removable disk via that adapter. After installation Leo-hdd can be plugged back into original place inside notebook or any other PC
10.5.5 or .4
Tried the usual places. Can't find it. Any suggestions?
insanelymac.com
try to search at _insanelymac.com
I`he got it from torrents ( piratebay )
Only Kalyway updates
I will try again 10.5.1. However when I try to partition the hard drive with the mac disk utility it keeps saying the resource is busy. I used an jas 10.4.1 disk. Don't know why.
For todays festivities I am going to install xp partition in three sections. 60 gb for XP 20gb for leopard and the rest for backup files. ONce XP is installed I will try again the 10.5.1 disk. I will follow your guide to a tee. From what I remember my leopard is disks02 so i would use the command line
fdisk -e /dev/rdisks02
is that correct?
I will answer yes to the following MBR question. THen type in auto boothfs
This should work now correct?
Or should I install XP then make an image of it. Reformat then install leopard then restore XP on an available partition? The only problem I can forsee doing it this way is which OS would be recognized first.
What do you think? When I load up 10.5.1 it takes forever to boot. 15min or so. WOW
Thanks again for your input.
try to boot with key -v -x
Try to type into boot menu keys
-v -x
and look at bootlog screen for any errors - they can give You many usefull info
One more time
OK here's the deal. Swapped out to a different HD. Installed Leopard 10.5.1 Kalyway. Finished and reboot. Nothing came up besides a flashing cursor. Rebooted opened terminal and followed 8-9 steps. Still no go. Just a flashing cursor. Am i missing a step? How long does it take to boot?
Frustrated as hell
lol
Done
Just tried it again. I really think this doesnt want to install on my sa2053t. This is nuts. I upraded the ram to 2gb and added the dell 1390 wifi card. Other than that it is stock. I probably got a back kalyway 10.5.1.
Also I couldnt even get to the boot screen. When I start up Leopard from the HD it gets to a flashing cursor. That's it/ I couldnt even use -v -x.
Ha
If You can't see Boot Loader text with its version - Your bootloader not installed!
bootloader
How do i install the bootloader? When installing do I choos GUID or MBR install under customize button.
GUID
guid is better for Leo as for me
Almost there
Almost got it. Re-installed. Customized with the vanilla setting and bootloader(lol) Grub. When I reboot now it is stuck at the blue screen. Did I miss a step? What customized settings did you use for your sa2053t.
GUID partition
On my sa2053t (comenting from it right now) one guid partition without multiboot - just for the Leo
And all done as described at this how-to
GUID
I got the GUID installed. It is with 3 partitions. So it is best if I just have 1 partition? I can not multi boot with XP? Also for the customized sections which boxes did you have checked off for your sa2053t.
BTW my other 2 partitions are empty.
install hangs
I get to about 9 minutes left on the install and the setup just hangs.. Any suggestions
try boot keys
-x -v
